ACT - A Contemporary Theatre [back to top]Theatre
ACT’s mission is to produce relevant works on contemporary themes, nurturing new and seasoned artists, collaborating with promising playwrights and local performing artists working in a variety of media, and connecting audiences to the many stages of the creative process. We fulfill our mission through our primary programming, Mainstage, ACTLab and the Young Playwrights Program (YPP): The Mainstage Plays epitomize our reputation for presenting innovative, challenging, entertaining, and relevant work; our ACTLab series provides production, ticket office and marketing support to 10 to 15 theatre partners producing in our building each year; and the YPP offers a 10-week, 20-class arts education program in playwriting that serves public and private middle and high schools in and around Seattle.Note to actors:
-If you're doing a comic piece, make sure when you're timing it at home that you allow some seconds for the laughs you're sure to get! We hate it when you get cut off by the time monitor when we're enjoying your work!
-Own the space and what you're there to do. No apologizing please! No matter how you feel or how you think it's gone (and you may not always be correct!) stay bright and confident and glad to be there. We're happy to see you!
-Please as you come onto the stage take a tiny second to spot the Exit located on the other side so you can depart with assurance and dignity at the end of your audition.
2019 Season projects (subscription season, workshops, readings) and beyond.
We are committed to expanding and deepening our knowledge of the range of artists in the community and interested in meeting actors of all races and ethnicities, gender identity and expression, neuro-diversities, and the diversely abled.
