MISSION STATEMENT

Snowflake Avalanche is the trade name now used by Y York and Mark Lutwak when they produce plays by Y York or otherwise work together, a partnership that began in 1981.


MORE ABOUT THEATRE

Mark Lutwak & Y York have been wokring together as director/dramaturg and writer for over 35 years. Joint projects have included Love Story/Steak Dinner (Interaction Arts, NYC), Jean Kirkpatrick Raps with a Turkey (Mudd Club, NYC), Rain. Some Fish. No Elephants. (New Theatre of Brooklyn), The Snowflake Avalanche (Seattle Group Theatre), the Portrait, the Wind, the Chair (Seattle Children’s Theatre), Frog & Toad Forever (Seattle Children’s Theatre), It Comes Around (Theatre Under the Influence, Seattle), The Last Paving Stone (Idaho Theatre for Youth & Honolulu Theatre for Youth), Afternoon of the Elves (First Stage, Milwaukee & Honolulu Theatre for Youth), The Garden of Rikki Tikki Tavi (Honolulu Theatre for Youth & Cincinnati Playhouse), River Rat and Cat (ChildsPlay, AZ & Cincinnati Playhouse), The Othello (Honolulu Theatre for Youth), Nothing is the Same (Honolulu Theatre for Youth & Seattle Children’s Theatre), Framed (Smashbox, HI), Bleachers in the Sun (Smashbox, HI), Eggs (People’s Light & Theatre), Accidental Friends (Cincinnati Playhouse) Don’t Tell Me I Can’t Fly (First Stage, Milwaukee), and Krisit (Clifton Players, Cincinnati).



Since being formally created, SNOWFLAKE AVALANCHE has produced two readings by Y York at Third Place Books. This was followed y a production of  SYCORAX at 18th & Union (Seattle) in October 2017 and then again in May 2018. SYCORAX was invited as a featured performance at Alaska's Last Frontier Theatre Conference, but was cancelled due to the illness and subsequent death of the actor, Demene E. Hall. This past year, SNOWFLAKE AVALANCHE produced FRAMED at 18th & Union.



In the future, SNOWFLAKE AVALANCHE plans to continue producing readings, workshops and fully staged productions of other plays by Y York. Up next is a concert workshop of the musical THE UPSIDE OF DOWN (with composer Amanda Jacobs.).
