The Lesser-Known Players promote and foster the performing arts by staging new, unusual, and lesser-known works by established and emerging artists; and engage our community through ongoing performances, projects, and educational offerings.
MORE ABOUT THEATRE
Never heard of it? That's our specialty! The Lesser-Known Players seek out and produce lesser-known theatrical works that typically might not find a place in larger local venues but that we feel deserve a broader audience. We produce three to six short-run (one to two weeks), small-house (50 seats) shows per year, most often on Bainbridge Island. Our upcoming season will include '27 Short Plays About Being Murdered in a Hotel by ABBA: A Play' by William Razavi, 'Lettice & Lovage,' by Peter Schaffer, and Pirandello's 'Henry IV' (Tom Stoppard translation). In addition to the reguarly-scheduled shows in our season, we also host showcase performances year-round by other like-minded companies and performing artists. In the past, we've hosted such productions as MaTheatre's 'Tesla ex Machina' and 'Curie Me Away'; Dacha Theatre's immersive 'Snow Queen;' Kairos Theatre's 'Eleemosynary,' and Villanueva Productions' 'Casa Valentina.'
