What is STS?

We are a NW Entertainment Company that was created to support and elevate Seattle’s acting community. We strive to educate, engage, and EMPOWER through our STS Film Academy, STS Productions and STS Community by providing comprehensive, professional on-camera acting training; providing creative, career opportunities in the film/tv industry and facilitating a growing community of collaborative industry professionals.

Why is STS in the Seattle area?

STS was developed in the spring of 2011 to fill an artistic gap in Seattle, a creative hub filled with theater education, theater work and theater community but lacking consistent, comprehensive on-camera acting training; career opportunities in the film/tv industry and a unified community of film industry professionals.

The expansion of the film industry has been enormous due to rapid technological advancements. The development of digital film productions and online distribution systems has created innumerous opportunities for film industry professionals all over the world. The center of the film industry has expanded beyond Hollywood. It has become virtual, online… with global access.

Traditions move slower than technology and Seattle is traditionally a theater town. And, although Seattle is filled with highly qualified film industry professionals, the shortage of career opportunities, the scarcity of consistent training venues, and scattered communities of industry artists and craftspeople have minimized the growth and development of Seattle’s film industry.

STS Film Academy will enhance and support Seattle’s creative community with its consistent, affordable, comprehensive and professional on-camera acting training for actors of all levels.

STS Productions will create career-developing opportunities for industry professionals through our current web series and future video and film projects.

STS Community will endeavor to serve the Pacific NW as a creative, professional and social hub for collaborative industry artists and craftspeople.

Who started STS?

 

 

Anya Ruoss and Joseph Steven Yang are highly qualified, professional actors with MFA degrees in acting from the University of Washington.

They have years of acting experience in film, television, commercials, and onstage for production companies such as 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Lifetime Television, Centripetal Films, ESPN, Verizon, Phillip Morris, Ford, Bank of America, Lineage II, ACT, Seattle Repertory Theater, Seattle Children's Theater, Mixed Blood Theater, Washington Ensemble Theater, The Village Theater, Repertory Actors Theater and STS Productions.

They have taught classes on the university level and the Hollywood studio levels and 'private coached' professional, working actors in Los Angeles and Seattle.
