Global Works exists to support creation and communication through the work of artists in different media and cultures. Creation is our best response to destruction. Communication is our best response to conflict. We accomplish our mission by: • Developing collaborative projects between artists and cultures • Reaching out to create communication between international artists and their audiences • Fostering education about and through the arts
MORE ABOUT THEATRE
Operating for several years as Hit and Run Theater Company, Global-Works has offered out-of-the-box productions of classic and new works in unexpected locations. The first production of this venture was "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park: a Tom Lehrer Revue" at the Market Theatre in Pike Place Market. This was followed by Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" at the Century Ballroom on Capitol Hill, with the production spilling around the great old room and surrounding the audience. The original piece "The Realm of Whispering Ghosts: If Truman Met Einstein" was presented as a guest production at the Bathhouse Theatre at the end of the summer of 2013. We have presented staged readings of Sinclair Lewis's "It Can't Happen Here" and an annual series of "Lawyers on Stage" featuring staged readings of courtroom dramas with members of the legal community. Upcoming plans include several developmental workshops and a holiday Panto in 2019 in collaboration with University Heights Center.
