MORE ABOUT THEATRE
|
Slogan:
Gesamtkunstwerk! Blurring the Boundaries.
About:
Gesamtkunstwerk!, meaning a total work of art, was founded by artistic director Dani Prados. Based in Seattle, the company started to take form in late 2009 and by early 2010 the company’s first show, 3Sisters.CZ, premiered at Freehold in Downtown Seattle. The company is currently in the process of becoming a non-profit organization, as well as preparing for their 2010-2011 season.
Vision:
Gesamtkunstwerk’s! vision is to cross artistic disciplines, mediums and cultures in all of our works in order to confuse the traditional ideas of theatre.
Artistic Statement:
Gesamtkunstwerk! strives to create a unique and vibrant theatre going experience by introducing new and obscure works. Through the collaboration of multiple artistic mediums, Gesamtkunstwerk! hopes to engage current theatre goers as well as draw in a new array of modern viewers. We are constantly searching for new ways to confound ideas and expectations. In our modern world of technology, we hope to engage and nurture a new kind of theatre in which we can immerse our audience in high quality, provocative and unified art. By interweaving theatre and multi-media, our company hopes to breathe new life into theatre and encourage our audience to embrace an innovative kind of theatre that can grow and thrive in our contemporary world.
