The Black Box Theatre at Edmonds Community College, in keeping with the college’s mission to strengthen our diverse community, spark creativity, encourage innovation, and support lifelong student success, proudly collaborates with local and independent artists, instructional programs, departments and individuals from the community to offer a wide variety of artistic, cultural and civic events to our students, campus and neighbors in South Snohomish County for the purpose of sparking imagination, fostering discussion, building community and inspiring action. Most events are FREE and open to the public.


The Black Box Theatre is a 180 seat enclosed multi-purpose theater space that opened on the Edmonds Community College campus, in Lynnwood, in October 2008. The Black Box Theatre serves as a community events space to enhance arts education at Edmonds Community College and in Snohomish County through educational outreach programs, community partnerships and performing arts presentations.  The Black Box Theater, as an educational resource for the college and region, offers learning opportunities through its Lecture Series and Conversations Series on topics chosen to enhance the curriculum and engage the students in thoughtful discussions outside of the classroom. The Black Box partners with the Arts, Culture, and Civic Engagement Program and with student clubs to increase campus involvement giving the students, a greater voice in the programming ideas at the Black Box and creating an environment for Engagement, Exploration and Education. The Black Box Theatre at Edmonds Community College, as a cultural resource for the region, strives to partner with neighboring businesses and arts organizations to connect the campus to the greater community and bring exciting performing arts events to Snohomish County. This community participation is key to making Edmonds Community College and The Black Box Theatre a cultural hub for Enlightenment and Entertainment in this community.
