#BadStockPhotosOfMyJob: THEATRE EDITION

Earlier this month, the hashtag #BadStockPhotosOfMyJob was trending.
Click here to see the full collection. We saw a lot of jobs in science, but not so many in the arts. So TPS decided to do some investigation into the subject.

STAGE MANAGER

Apparently non-theatre people have no idea what a stage manager is or does…
But to be fair, they are always in business clothes. Right? Right??

ACTOR

This is my favorite show! Hamlet? Or Death of a Salesman? Hard to tell from these subtle production photos.

DIRECTOR

Every good director always spends at least one solid hour staring at the empty house. Otherwise, how will they connect to the actors?

LIGHTING DESIGNER

Most people don’t realize that lighting design is a super power handed down from generation to generation.

STAGEHAND

Oh, I see what happened here.

SOUND DESIGN

Most sound designers like to stare at equipment and contemplate “What even IS sound?” until inspiration finally hits.

COSTUME DESIGNER

A good costume designer will never directly look at the fabric they’re cutting, otherwise it will never have that “raw” feeling.

PLAYWRIGHT

The hardest part of being a female playwright is that the mask they give you to write in doesn’t even have eye holes.

BOX OFFICE REPRESENTATIVE

If the show runs out of seats, just hand out blank pieces of paper! The best part of the theatre is almost touching fingers with strangers anyway.

DID WE MISS ANYONE? Let us know, and we’ll get investigating!
