IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an urgent casting call – so all submissions must be accompanied by a CV and photo; preferably video excerpts as well (may be Youtube clips, in Quicktime or Windows Media formats, etc.
Please note that who are unable to attend this audition or who live too far from the New York area may still be considered for the role. For these submissions, a video demo may be requested.
Cirque du Soleil is currently searching for a male actor to fill an understudy position on its newest creation, Banana Shpeel.
A middle-aged Caucasian male comic actor with a strong sense of improvisation and who can move well. He is an imposing impresario who is as arrogant as he is funny.
- Theater actor or stand-up comedian;
- Strong stage presence, comedic sense, and charisma;
- Improvisational skills;
- Good dance or movement ability;
- Diverse stage experience (Broadway, stand-up, etc.);
- Good physical shape and no predilection for vertigo (fear of heights).
Auditions will be held in New York City, this Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th, 2010.

Cirque du Soleil productions Saltimbanco, Alegría, Quidam, Dralion, Varekai, Corteo, KOOZA and OVO are touring shows under the Big Top, whereas Mystère, “O”, Zumanity, KÀ, LOVE,,CRISS ANGEL Believe and Viva Elvis (in Las Vegas), La Nouba (in Orlando), ZAIA (in Macau) and ZED (in Tokyo) are resident shows presented in theatres. Wintuk (in New York) is a seasonal show, performed during the Holiday season.
