ACT Theatre seeks Master Electrician for the 2005 Season

TITLE: Master Electrician   
START DATE:  Spring 2005
DEPARTMENT:  Electrics   
REPORTING TO: Stage Operations Supervisor/Technical Management

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  To operate and maintain lighting equipment for
performances and technical rehearsals. To maintain design during run of show. 
As time allows, to physically execute lighting designs.
* Three years of professional experience in theatrical lighting, two years
supervisory experience.
* Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
* Ability to repeatedly hang lighting equipment.

* Operation of computer lighting consoles.
* Knowledge of theatrical dimming (ETC Sensor and IPS)
* Knowledge of basic electrical circuitry and troubleshooting.
* Basic computer literacy and drafting.
* Broad knowledge of theatrical lighting and design.
* Ability to work as a team member and maintain a positive attitude in times of
stress (i.e. tech week).
* Ability to lift, push, or maneuver up to 50 - 70 lbs. repeatedly either alone
or with assistance from others.
* Ability to safely install additional lighting positions as required.
* Operate lighting control board for performances and rehearsals.
* As schedule permits, prepare, hang, and focus lighting designs.
* Maintain lighting equipment and inventory.
* Attend rehearsals and meetings as requested.
* Electrify all practical units in conjunction with scenic department.
* Execute daily lighting checks during run.
* Consistently reproduce technical accuracy in all performance related duties.
* Provide documentation of all performance related duties.
* Assist with purchases and rentals for lighting department as required.
* Design and execute special effects as needed.
* Consult with designers and/or supervisors on specific solutions to problems.
* Maintain accurate paperwork for all shows.
* Keep all dimming and control systems functioning through routine maintenance
and repair.
* Supervise stage electricians for lighting needs.
* Maintain safety in work areas.
* Set up, trouble shoot and remove lighting control peripherals as needed.
* May be required to attend brush-up or understudy rehearsals.
* Respond to theatre wide lighting requests.
* Provide support for all stage operation needs.
* Carry out other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by direct
supervisor or management.
 COMPUTER SKILLS UTILIZED:  Mac OS, Word processing, Lightwright, also extensive
knowledge of computer lightboards (ETC Obsession 600, Colortran Encore XL, ETC
Express 24/48)
