Position Description
Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, retention, recognition, and training of front of house, administrative, and board member/advisory council volunteers. 
The Volunteer Coordinator is an hourly employee reporting to the board of directors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.   Recruit, schedule, and train volunteers for front of house positions throughout the season;
2.   Recruit and contract with administrative (long term and task specific) volunteers to assist with ticketing, office work, legal, reception, and fund-raising;
3.   Recruit and contract with artists and designer volunteers to assist with mainstage productions and special event support, dramaturgy, marketing, internal communications, graphic design, and web presence;
4.   Assist the board of directors in recruiting board, committee, advisory council and political advocates;
5.   Devise and implement a system for volunteer recognition and retention;
6.   Schedule a minimum of ten office hours per week to assist with reception, ticketing and coordination of volunteers.

1.   Formal education in training and development and best practices of volunteer coordination (or equivalent training and experience);
2.   Two years’ experience in volunteer coordination in a community arts organization;
3.   Familiarity with Vendini (or comparable) ticketing system, or willingness to complete their online training;
4.   Experience with cash handling and credit card processing (Square);
5.   Hold a current MAST permit and food handlers card, or agreement to acquire same within 30 days of hire;
6.   Familiarity with Sign-up Genius or comparable recruitment applications, or willingness to learn;
7.   Willing to work weekend evenings and afternoons during performances, and business hours between shows, recruiting and training volunteers and managing office communications.

Compensation - As an hourly employee, working approximately half time, the Volunteer Coordinator is paid $15 per hour (six month probationary period).
