Job title:  Daytime Program Director/Early Education Specialist

Job description:
Olympia Family Theater is seeking a theater director and education specialist for their Letís Play daytime drama series and teacher/curriculum specialist for children 0-6yrs.
The Daytime Program Director works closely with the Artistic Director in the Letís Play season selection, guaranteeing that all programing is age appropriate and falls within the mission of OFT. The Daytime Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the development and production of the Letís Play series including:
-Script formatting with approval of Artistic Director (interaction points, Q & Aís etc.)
-Casting and Management of Cast
-Scheduling of rehearsals and rehearsal space and keeping OFT calendar updated with rehearsals
-Forms intake: Liability, W-9, Conduct with minors, Actor Guidelines (contracts, when possible)     
-Running of rehearsals, directing actors with special consideration for the age of our audience
-Creative use of our stock and budget in assembling prop/costume/set for each show
-Setting Call Times for performers
-Sound design
-Running sound and helping front of house during performances
-Overseeing the strike and tear down of each show to guarantee that all physical properties are returned
-Repairing and/or cleaning any prop or costume that has shown sign of wear

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate
-Has experience blocking and leading rehearsals as a theatrical director. Any and all experience working in children's and/or community theater as a performer and director will be considered.
-Will arrive punctually in order to meet responsibilities in site start up
-Maintains close communication with OFT Staff regarding planned or emergency absences
-Will be energetic, trustworthy, and committed to the families and community we serve
-Must enjoy and have experience working with children aged 0-6
-Will be an independent and innovative thinker and problem solver who thrives in a team environment, is willing to tackle new challenges, and is able to manage multiple assignments while meeting specific deadlines with minimal supervision
-Will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate with children, parents, staff, and community members
-Must have a solid understanding of child development and age-appropriate behaviors and skills
-Must undergo a comprehensive background check
-Has a Bachelorís degree, is working toward a degree in a related field, or has at least two yearsí work experience in arts programs for youth
-Will ensure an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for families
-Serves as a positive adult role model for children through appropriate dress, speech, and attitude
-Creates an engaging and creative environment that fosters a sense of belonging where kids and families are enthusiastic to participate
-Maintain safety at rehearsals and shows
-Identify any facilities needs and communicate to staff and volunteers as appropriate

Pay, benefits, and work schedule:
-Part-time salaried project position: 10 hours/week, paid $694.00 monthly
-No benefits.
-Limited duration: From hire date through June 30, 2017. Potential for continuation beyond end date pending evaluation by Artistic Director and Board of Directors. Our hope is that as our Letís Play program continues to grow, the director/education specialist can be involved in the planning and development of creative dramatics programming for children 0-6 for the 2017-2018 season.

Our Letís Play daytime shows take place one week a month (Sept-June) at 10:30 am on M, Th, F, Sat with additional days/times for field trips.  Rehearsals can take place 3-4 times the week before we perform.  An average of 300 individuals attend the Letís Play series shows each month.
