Playwrights in Seattle!

Riot Productions wants you to send us your best, your brightest, your strangest, your funniest, your most confrontational scripts! In other words, we are looking for playwrights in the Seattle area who want to have their work produced by us late for a full show later this year. Here are our requirements...

1. It must follow our mission statement: "To produce cutting edge, new work by and about under-represented voices (queer, POC, women, trans*, gender-fluid) and defies traditional narrative.
2. It must be able to be produced on a low budget.
3. It must be new, never-before produced (staged readings or college productions excluded).
4. It can be any genre (comedy, absurdist, drama, generative, etc etc etc)
5. You cannot be a member of Actors Equity, SAG, or SAG-AFTRA

What we need from you is this...

1. Your script.
2. A cover letter explaining why you want to work with us and why you think your play would be a good fit for RiOT.
3. A summary of the play including a character breakdown.
4. Send ALL your information to riotseattle@gmail.com in a .pdf format.

If you have any questions, contact us at our email. We look forward to hearing from you!

XOXOXO
Seth and Leah, RiOT Productions

Why not Actors' Equity or SAG-AFTRA (there is no more SAG)?

Do the producers not understand how easy it is to work with union actors? And usually at no cost depending on the complexity (a reading vs. a full production). And you could do this as an Equity Member Project if it is a first-time production.

Were Leah and Seth absent from the union day in their senior year at Cornish.

I'm a little baffled by this. Respectfully.
