Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre is currently seeking interns for its 2013/2014 season!

Are you interested in gaining real experience to prepare you for working in professional theatre?  Do you have a passion for the production and technical side of theatre, especially musical theatre?  Do you want to learn what it means to work as a theatre artist and help develop the next generation of theatre lovers?

Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre, located in the University District of Seattle, has been enriching the lives of children through theatre for over 17 years.  Our vision at Broadway Bound is to help children and teens develop core life values through the tradition, process and discipline of live musical theatre.   Our production and technical staff are theatre professionals with years of industry experience who know what it’s really like to work as a freelance theater professional.  Interns shadow the entire production process which culminates in their work as the performance run crew.  Interning at Broadway Bound also holds the potential for future work, as we are always accepting resumes for designers, technicians, directors, choreographers and stage managers.

Interns for the 2013/2014 season will work on a total of 4 productions.  Our Fall Shows are Peter Pan and Legally Blonde: The Musical, with performances in January and February 2014.  Our Spring Shows are Honk! and Grease, with performances in May and June 2014.

Currently, we are seeking interns for the following positions:

Costume Intern: As the Costume Intern you will work with the Costume Designer during fittings, pulls, and builds as well as acting as a dresser during performances.

Directing/Choreography Intern: As the Directing/Choreography Intern you will work with the Directors and Choreographers during the blocking and rehearsal of the shows, learning techniques for creating stage pictures and staging musical numbers as well as working backstage during performances.

Fundraising Intern:  As the Fundraising Intern you will work directly with the Broadway Bound office staff in tasks surrounding Fundraising, Grant Writing, Development and Marketing for a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit theatre.  You will also be involved during performances.

Lighting Intern: As the Lighting Intern you will work with the Lighting Designer by during design, plot, hang, focus and cue recording.  You will also working as a lighting tech during the performances.

Scenic Intern: As the Technical Intern you will work with the Scenic Designer during the design process and with the Master Carpenter for the build, planning, load-in and strike.  You will also work as a stagehand during performances.

Sound Intern: As the Sound Intern you will work with the Sound Designer for the compilation, creation and engineering of sound effects, as well as patching and mixing the sound for a 6-7 piece live band and wireless microphones for casts of 30+ performers.   You will also work as a Sound/Lighting Technician during performances.

Stage Management Intern: As the Stage Management Intern you will work with the Stage Managers during the rehearsal process to learn the ins and outs of managing a production and working directly with the Director and performers.  You will also work as backstage crew during the performances as an ASM.  Given enough interest, there may be two positions available for Stage Management Internships.

Applicants should expect to commit a variable time commitment, as you will be working with freelance artists.  Availability during performances is absolutely necessary.
Interested candidates should send resumes, along with at least 1 reference, to anthony@broadwaybound.org.  Please specify the internship(s) for which you would like to apply, as well as your availability.  Only local candidates will be considered.
