In this course, students will be assigned challenging scenes which are filmed then critiqued in class, giving the participants immediate feedback about how their performances are coming across from the lens to the screen. Students will also have access to their footage during the course.
Students will work mostly in medium and close shots, with an emphasis put on teaching students how to appropriately scale their performance depending on the nature of the shot.INSTRUCTOR INFO:
Tony Doupe’ and David S. Hogan have extensive training and experience in front of the camera and on stage.
Tony holds an MFA from Cal Institute of the Arts, is a faculty member of Shoreline Community College, and has been privately teaching for over 14 years. He has also been in many feature films (Safety Not Guaranteed, The Off Hours), television shows (Grimm, Leverage), and commercials. David has been acting professionally in Seattle since 2000, and his work in theater is critically acclaimed (David is a three time winner of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Stellar Acting - 2002, 2009, and 2012. He also received the 2012 Gypsy Rose Lee Award). His work in front of the camera began in earnest in 2010, and since then he has worked frequently in the medium.
