FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

"You Can Never Get it Neat" Weekend Acting Intensive with Paula Russell

August 9th, 11th and 12th in Seattle, WA

Paula Russell directed at the famed Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Cast Theatre and The Actors Playhouse in Los Angeles. Directed and taught extensively in California and Washington. As a member of AEA, SAG/AFTRA, she has acted in theatre, film and television. Interned by invitation on “Taxi” “Cheers” "WKRP" “Newhart.”  In association with Emmy & Directors Guild award-winning actor/director, Joan Darling, Ms. Russell began teaching acting in Los Angeles 30years ago. In Austin, TX, she's directed two plays at the Long Center, coached actors for award-winning films and is currently on staff at The State Theatre School of acting where she coaches for all mediums and directs showcases for the industry.

For Actors/Performers, Directors, Teachers and Others:

Exercise muscles needed to develop and/or maintain your skills as artists in “ready-working” condition.  Whether you are a professional or a novice, artistic muscles work best when kept fine-tuned and adaptable.

“You Can Never Get it Neat” is an intensive work-out of wildly creative, yet reliable classic techniques to build and strengthen artistic muscle through the discipline of a professional level workshop.

Learn to stay spontaneous, true and unpredictable from cold reading to call-back to final performance in a safe and positive professional environment.

Explore deep physical (sensory/voice, movement) relaxation work designed specifically for artists: Find that Still and Magic place within that lights up a screen or stage, using unique text and character study, improvisation, learning to make dynamic choices, breaking the 4thwall, embracing accidents and welcoming/planning surprise.

Tap into creative playfulness and risk-taking in a positive environment where personal privacy is never invaded.

[Actors will be asked to arrive ready to work with a memorized monologue 2 1/2 minutes or less. If two actors would like to work collaboratively, a 5 minute or less scene is also acceptable]

Class is limited to 10 students on a first-come, first-serve basis

Where: TPS Theatre 4, Seattle Center Armory (formerly Center House)

Fees: $195 for students who sign up after 8/1/12, $150 for students who sign up prior to 8/1/12.

There is a $50, non-refundable deposit due to hold a space (deposit will go toward the total cost of the class)
