DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibilities for the Event Marketing and Box Office Manager are to represent, market and promote the Black Box Theatre; promote and market activities related to the Arts, Culture, and Civic Engagement Initiative and the ArtsNow/uLearn program at Edmonds Community College; and to manage the Box Office for the Black Box Theatre. Other critical elements of this job include: starting and maintaining client relationships, collaborating and advising on events produced by student organizations in the Black Box Theatre; creating a marketing plan to generate visibility, facility rentals and ticket sales for the Black Box Theatre; providing event support for the Black Box Theatre; and monitoring and balancing the marketing budgets.
Annual event marketing campaigns for campus-wide cultural activities will be the focal point for the Event Marketing and Box Office Manager, including promoting all events associated with the Arts, Culture, and Civic Engagement Initiative and assisting with event/program planning and marketing for the ArtsNow/uLearn programs. Marketing will include digital, social media, print, websites, developing partnerships, leveraging existing marketing initiatives, and working with EdCC College Public Relations.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing marketing and event/program planning support to the Black Box Theatre; Arts, Culture and Civic Engagement; and to the ArtsNow/uLearn programs.
Facilitating all box office functions for the Black Box Theatre; keeping regular box office hours; managing single ticket and group sales; updating the theater and ticketing web pages on a weekly basis; and supervising part-time box office personnel.
Balancing and managing the publicity budget for targeted event campaigns; creating policies, procedures and a strong records system for tracking budgets together with the college business offices and the Director of the Black Box.
Supervising Event Staff with the Director, including managing the front of the house or box office during events.
The position is full-time and will require evening and weekend hours related to production and quarterly schedule; hours per week will vary and will average 40 per week.
This is an exempt position reporting directly to the Black Box Theater Director and will work with the Directors of Arts, Culture, and Civic Engagement, and Community Education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree, or higher, or equivalent education/experience/training in Marketing and Publicity.
Three or more years of experience in marketing and/or publicity, including running social media campaigns and negotiating ad contracts to promote events and engage audiences.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Access; Adobe Macromedia suite (or other design software); and website design/management software.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with groups and individuals.
Experience in creating and maintaining client and audience public relations.
Knowledge of and experience in the fine and performing arts.
Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years of experience as a box office manager and/or associate, and experience working with event ticketing software.
Prior work experience demonstrating strong planning and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to lead and/or supervise employees, clients, students and volunteers.
Knowledge of and/or experience with theatrical lighting, sound systems and projections.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work involves activities which occur both inside and outside the theater. Noise, vibrations, some physical hazards such as proximity to mechanical parts and electrical currents, atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, oils and fluids are all part of the working environment. Some heavy lifting and moving of objects may be required.
