Putting reviews on SeattlePerforms.com is fine as far as the individual show's promotion, but when the show closes, it all goes away. If we are going to have an archive of Seattle productions and what audience members thought of them, the reviews are going to have to stay on the message boards - or be posted in both places.

Scott can certainly correct me if I'm wrong but not only does the info not go away - the calendar currently includes an archive of everything posted back to 2003. The calendar actually becomes a great resource for looking up the history of companies and shows  produced in our region.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

The current system is meant to serve BOTH purposes...

1) An up-to-date, easy to use, toy-rich calendar for today
2) An intricate, detail heavy archive for the future.

All reviews, publications, show details, cast/company lists, etc, etc stay on the calendar forever...or as long as electricity keeps pumping. The dates currently go back to August 2003, and events may be added as far back as January 2000. I can set the system to add dates even before that if any person or theatre cares to archive that far back. Eventually, cast lists will integrate with the TPS individual member records to create an IMDB-like listing for the events.

Already, the TPS organization DB is connected to the system. For instance, if you go to http://seattleperforms.com and click 'theatres' (left hand menu) you will see a complete list of the current producing members of TPS. It's pretty extensive too! Click on a theatre, see details about them including ANY current or upcoming events listed on SeattlePerforms. There is also a link to view EVERY event that is connected to that organization.

I stand corrected. It sounds marvelous - I guess I'm going to have to spend some time playing with it.

It will still make me change the way I have been posting for the past 16 months - I will have to break up my consolidated posts.

9 reviews added today:
http://seattleperforms.com/content/view/4/11/

Nine linked reviews added this morning from various publications including both weeklys, online review sites BroadwayWorld.com and Talkin' Broadway and new addition to our list of reviewers - Seattlest. If you haven't yet bookmarked the SeattlePerforms.com theatre reviews and previews page you should. It's the only single source I know of which lists reviews from publications all over our region. It only lists reviews for theater currently running, so no old clutter either (old theatre reviews can always be found by looking at the listing of the show - the archive goes back to the year 2003.)

Also: where is YOUR review? Both TPS Members and non-members are allowed accounts (if you're a TPS member, you alread have one with your current TPS username and password). The SeattlePerforms.com theater reviews and previews page also lists all reviews written by our users - written with bylines AND anonymously.
