Just in case you did not know about this, Joann Farias has been working very closely with Live Girls! for the last three years. She has participated in literally EVERY program we have. Live Girls! theater would like to congratulate, Seattle playwright Joann Farias. She has received an, NEA/TCG Theatre Residency Program for Playwrights grant. Joann Farias will be in residence at Miracle Theatre Group (Portland, OR).
Joann has been a frequent collaborator with Live Girls! theater over the last few years. Live Girls! produced the premiere production of Tino Does Time, directed by Zoe Fitzgerald in 2004. In the Spring of 2005 Tino Does Time was produced again at Miracle Theatre Group, in Portland, OR, directed by Olga Sanchez. Joann Farias, has also participated in Live Girls! Quickies, Bakers Dozen, Holiday XXX, Playwriting Lab and was a regular performer at their monthly Artwalk Cabaret.
While in residence at the Miracle Theatre Joann will work on her play Oscar Goes to Mexico, based in part on the Mayan sacred text the Popol Vuh , with a contemporary setting. Ms. Farias will also teach playwriting and performance workshops and serve as an artist-educator and mentor for young Latino participants in the company's community programs.
