New staff at Theater Schmeater

Theater Schmeater recently announced David Gassner as artistic director and Teri Lazzara as managing director.

Gassner was co-founder and atistic director of San Francisco's Teatro Shalom, a multi-cultural nomadic theater company. He served as executive director of Dreamweavers Theater in Napa, Calif., and has been on the theater arts faculty of Napa Valley College, San Jose City College and Evergreen College. Since arriving in Seattle two years ago, he has appeared as an actor in productions with Capitol Hill Arts Center and Seattle Public Theater, and has performed in the 14/48 Theater Festival.

Lazzara studied acting at Central Connecticut State University. In 1993, Lazzara co founded Moonlight Theater Company. She has a background in bookkeeping and administration. Lazzara is also an actor and has graced many of Seattle's theaters including The Schmee. Lazzara was best known for her role in the late-night classic "Soccer Moms." She has also performed in "Getting Out" and "God Damn Tom."

In addition to Gassner's work as artistic director, he will direct the company's 2007 opening production of Nicolia Macchiavelli's "The Mandrake," translated by Wallace Shawn. Theater Schmeater's full season announcement will be released in December.
