http://www.thisdayinmusic.com - Click on "Birthday No. 1" up top.

Just a fun little diversion.

For me, on the US Charts it was "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce.

The UK charts - "Merry Xmas Everybody" by Slade

edit:  Some folks down the line in the thread started mentioned earliest memories.  Definitely another fun little diversion.

edit 2:  Spurred by Ken Holmes announcement that today was his birthday, I grabbed the first google link for finding common birthdays.  http://www.famousbirthdays.com was a quick and easy (while far from exhaustive) way to check up on that.  Click on the month in the frame along the left hand part of the screen for a listing of the "famous" birthdays in that month.  In addition, each day has a list of links to similar tools elsewhere on the web (the 2-3 letter links: ET - IP - DT....etc).  Among those is http://us.imdb.com/OnThisDay.  That link gives you a list of everyone in the Internet Movie DataBase who was born, died, or was married today.  Alter the date you want to search for in the left hand column near the top, it will default to today's date.

My Sweet Lord  -  George Harrison (US)
I Hear You Knocking  -  Dave Edmonds (UK)

I don't think I know either of those songs.  Can anyone hum a few bars?

Peggy...you're joshin' me, right?

George Harrison's My Sweet Lord?  The one he got sued for because it sounds just like 'He's So Fine'?

See:Â  http://abbeyrd.best.vwh.net/mysweet.htm

I Hear You Knockin', I can understand, because it was a one hit wonder (a band on Apple Records, coincidentally, if I recall correctly.)

I was in high school. *sigh*

U.K. - Mr. Tambourine Man.  You know I'm sensitive.

Frightening footnote.  My daughter was born March 15, 2004 and here's her songs:

Yeah - Usher feat Lil Jon and Ludacris (I've never even heard this song)

Cha Cha Slide - DJ Casper- ditto

Oh *THAT* song.  Yeah Keith, I totally know that song.  It's that hippy song.   Wink

I am not shy, so I'll say it ... I love that song.  It makes me kinda happy to sing along to it.  It's a spring song for me; the kind of song that makes me want to roll down my car windows and sing lustily even if I don't know all (or even most) of the words.  The same impulse which embarrasses me year after year when I realize again that people can hear me when I do that.   Undecided

Great.  Now I can't get "My Sweet Lord" out of my head.  4 people at work have already called me on it.  Apparently I'm humming.
