NY Nonprofit Groups Help Needy Artists
Creative Capital and Fractured Atlas, two nonprofit groups in New York, are working with artists to help them achieve financial stability, reports the Associated Press.

Creative Capital, founded in 1999, gives artists seed money for their projects in exchange for a percentage of any profit. The group has given out more than $6-million to 242 artists and has trained more than 1,000 artists how to plan their careers, manage their money and time, and set goals.

Fractured Atlas, a nine-year-old group, provides health insurance to individual artists and arts organizations. It offers eight health plans, which cost from $10 to $400 a month. About 2,000 artists participate in the program.
