I have a jazz musician friend visiting next week from Minneapolis.  While he is here, he would like to visit one or two of the more interesting/exciting jazz clubs.  Can anyone make a recommendation?  I am not remotely jazz literate...

Jazz Alley is probably the most well known one in Seattle, but I bet there are folks out there who know of smaller clubs that are not on my radar.  From the times I've been there: the jazz is great and the food is expensive!

Tula's downtown.  The New Orleans in Pioneer Sq, but check listings for both of these, the latter sometimes has more Blues than Jazz.

The Scarlet Tree up on 65th & Roosevelt used to host a lot of improv jazz events, but it's been a few years since I've been in there.
