CORPORATE GIVING ROSE IN 2004, SURVEY FINDS
http://fdncenter.org/pnd/news/story.jhtml?id=127800007
A survey conducted by the New York City-based Conference Board reports that charitable giving by 189 of the largest U.S. corporations and corporate foundations totaled $7.8 billion in 2004. Support for health and human services remained a top priority for U.S. corporations, garnering approximately 54 percent of total U.S. contributions, up more than 72 percent from 2003 for groups that responded to both surveys. Education, which ranked second in terms of contributions, received 17 percent of the 2004 total, while giving to arts and culture increased only slightly (1.5 percent). For more information on corporate giving please contact Vice President of Private-Sector Affairs Gary Steuer at gsteuer@artsusa.org.
