2  TPS Message Boards (requires ID & Password to post) / Classified Ads / Seeking Stage Manager for New Play Anthology on: July 19, 2017, 08:47:52 AM
MonoMyth Theatre is looking for a stage manager for our next project, In Short Order, opening in October 2017.    We have pulled inspiration from difficult and often terrifying situations that we have seen happen.  Our piece is an anthology composed of four separate stories that encompass one common thread, and that is a subtle fear that we all have brewing inside.

We are looking for a stage manager who has experience working with small casts and new works. This show is made up of four new scripts combined into one show - it will be a cast of three that will play different characters in each script. There will be close collaboration with the writers during the rehearsal process.

The rehearsal period will take place between early September and mid-October, mainly Monday-Thursday evenings with the occasional weekend rehearsal. Rehearsals will take place at TPS in the Seattle Armory.

The show will go up at the Slate Theatre in the Inscape Arts Building in Sodo from October 23 through Nov 12. The show will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Auditions are Friday, August 11 (6:00pm-8:30pm) and Saturday, August 12 (10:00am-12:00pm), with callbacks following the second audition slot on Saturday, August 12 (2:00pm-4:00pm). We hope the stage manager will be able to manage auditions - but if you are unavailable at that time, please still apply and we can works around that.

Please note that this is a new work.  We are looking for someone who is excited to work on a new, previously unproduced work.

There is a small stipend available for this project.

If this sounds like a project you would like to be involved in - please let us know! We would like to know a little bit about you, so please prepare a cover letter telling us a little about yourself and your background in theatre, your experience in stage management, and what theatre means to you. Please send your cover letter and a copy of your resume to monomyththeatre@gmail.com by July 28, 2017.

We look forward to hearing from you!

3  TPS Message Boards (requires ID & Password to post) / Classified Ads / Call for Director - MonoMyth Theatre new fall show In Short Order on: June 14, 2017, 10:32:07 AM
A Call for Directors

‘When I wrote my piece Interview for MonoMyth Theatre’s short play festival, Unmuted, I never intended for it to go farther than that stage.  As a writer, it was a very personal script where my irrational fears found a place to stay.  I felt that, if I wrote these fears down, they might never materialize.  Except now, I keep hearing these stories about people being turned away at our borders, people who are legally allowed to come to our country, and I’m beginning to realize maybe this isn’t as far off as I would like to imagine.  As a theatre company, we discovered that there is so much more to tell.’ – Britt Hobson, writer of Interview

MonoMyth Theatre is looking for a director for our next project, In Short Order, opening in October 2017.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative individual who enjoys working with new works.  We have pulled inspiration from difficult and often terrifying situations that we have seen happen.  Our piece is an anthology composed of three separate stories that encompass one common thread, and that is a subtle fear that we all have brewing inside.

We are looking for a director who has sensitivity to the problems in society and an understanding of the subtlety that can exist in horror. This director should be able to find the comedic moments in tense and even terrifying situations. This director is someone who is excited to tackle three entirely different scripts and work with three entirely different writers as we put this show together. If this sounds like you - we want to talk to you!

The rehearsal period will take place between early September and mid-October - specific days are still to be determined, so if you have conflicts, please let us know and we can work around them.

The show will go up at the Slate Theatre in the Inscape Arts Building in Sodo from October 23 through Nov 12. The show will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Audition dates are still to be announced.

Please note that this is a new work.  We are looking for someone who is excited to work on a new, previously unproduced work.

There is a small stipend available for this project.

If this sounds like a project you would like to be involved in - keep on reading! We would like to know a little bit about you, so please prepare a cover letter telling us a little about yourself and your background in theatre, what kind of shows you you love to direct, and what theatre means to you. Please send your cover letter and a copy of your resume to monomyththeater@gmail.com by June 28, 2017.

4  TPS Message Boards (requires ID & Password to post) / Project Proposals / MonoMyth seeks Playwrights and Directors for Short Play Festival on: December 28, 2016, 11:38:06 AM
Please join MonoMyth for our first short play festival March 10-11 at the Pocket Theatre in Greenwood. We plan to explore the diversity of our community and what the impact of the recent election has been on the lives of individuals who feel their rights infringed upon and freedoms stifled.

We are looking for play submissions from a myriad of genres - comedy, drama and everything in between. Length should be anywhere between 2 minute monologues to 30 minute one-acts. We will be looking to put on 9-10 shows during the two day run. Shows should be for casts of no more than 3, and require minimal set and costumes. While there is no limit on subject matter, please avoid need for any mess on stage (the Pocket does not allow glitter, stage blood, or anything similar).

Please visit www.monomyththeatre.com to submit your script for consideration.

We are also looking for directors for each of our short plays. We are looking for directors of all levels of experience and all walks of life. There will be one director per short play, so 9-10 directors total. The scripts will be assigned in early February, and you will be responsible for casting your show and going through the rehearsal process. There will be 3 sponsored rehearsals at TPS during the process - the first rehearsal, the middle of the rehearsal process and right before we open. All these will be full show rehearsals with all shows able to work together in a group.

Please review the below questions and send an email with your answers and your resume (if you have one!) to monomyththeatre@gmail.com. If you do not have a resume, please just send an email with your experience, etc.

-What is your background in the arts?

-What kind of play would you like to mount?

-What is important to you regarding the stories you want to tell?

-Do you have any conflicts in the months of February and March that would conflict with potential groups rehearsals? (We will be scheduling these rehearsals around all directors’ personal schedules.)

If you are interested in acting - please send us an email and let us know! Directors will be casting their own shows, but once our directors are chosen we will share the list of actors who are interested for first consideration.

There is no monetary compensation for this festival. However - all the resources of MonoMyth Theatre will be at your disposal. If you would like any of the staff to attend a rehearsal, or if you have questions, or if you just want to meet for coffee and discuss your show, we will be available. This showcase is to give you the chance and the platform to tell the story you want to tell - whether you are a writer, a director, or an actor. MonoMyth Theatre strongly encourages POC and LGBTQ writers and directors to apply.

Deadline for written submissions and director applications is January 25. Scripts and directors will be chosen within the next week, with the first group read through/rehearsal at the beginning of February. Please visit www.monomyththeatre.com or email us monomyththeatre@gmail.com with any questions - we look forward to reviewing your submissions and getting the chance to work with you!
