Taproot Theatre Company announces
Equity AEA/EMC General Auditions (for their 2015 Season)

Auditions will be held Monday & Tuesday, September 15 and 16 from 10am – 6pm
in Taproot’s new Isaac Studio Theatre
208 N 85th Street
Seattle, WA 98103
on the Taproot Theatre Campus


Taproot Theatre Company, under a new transitional SPT Tier 4 contract, will be holding general auditions for AEA/EMC members for their 2015 season.

Actors are asked to sign-up for an audition slot beginning Friday, August 29 at 9am by sending an e-mail to casting@taproottheatre.org. Audition scheduling is on a first come, first scheduled basis. Coordinators will attempt to accommodate specific scheduling requests, but cannot guarantee specific times.

Actors will be allotted five minutes for their audition and are asked to prepare one monologue or two contrasting monologues in any style. Singing is not required.

Actors are advised to bring 1 copy of their headshot and resume to the general audition so Taproot Theatre will keep these for their files.

Auditions will be attended by Karen Lund, Associate Artistic Director/Casting Director and when available Scott Nolte, Producing Artistic Director & Nathan Jeffrey, Director of Education and Outreach.

Taught by Taproot actress Candace Vance. If you have ever watched a favorite actor or actress on stage and thought to yourself, “how do they do that?” then this class is for you! Focusing on the rehearsal process, you’ll experience what the professionals do as you work on a one-act play to be performed on the Taproot stage. You will also be challenged to make bold and detailed character decisions and fully immerse yourself in the world of the play as you learn to trust your instincts and respond in the moment. Incoming 7th-12th grade students


Is your young actor itching to jump into the world of professional acting? This camp will prepare them for one of the most vital parts of acting: auditions. Our team will lead them through the process of auditioning from start to finish, and they will leave this class with a professional résumé, headshot and monologue. During the week students will get the chance to interact with some of the best and brightest artists and Taproot professionals who know what it takes to excel in this industry.

Taught by Rick Hornor, Professor of Theatre Emeritus at Whitworth University. He has taught everything from Beginning Acting to Improvisational Acting and Mime in his 26 years at Whitworth University, and is bringing that vast array of experience to Taproot's teen audition camp this summer.

In this exciting class from Taproot Theatre's Studio, students will focus on the rehearsal process, as they are broken into groups to explore and do scenework. Meisner: Developing the Habits

Taproot Theatre brings another exciting class in their Professional Actor's Conservatory season. Based on the training techniques of Sanford Meisner, this intensive acting class focuses on developing core disciplines. Through exercise work, students will develop the habits of:
  • Living truthfully moment-to-moment
  • Immediate, uncensored response
  • Public privacy through ongoing physical activity
  • Emotional fullness
  • Freedom from self-censure

This class is taught by Nathan Jeffrey, Director of Education and Outreach at Taproot Theatre. Nathan is a professional actor, director, and teacher. He holds an MFA in Directing from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University where he completed two years of Meisner training under Deborah Hedwall. As an actor he was most recently seen onstage as Valère in Taproot Theatre’s production of Tartuffe. Nathan is the Director of Education and Outreach at Taproot, and has directed for American Globe Theatre, Abilene Shakespeare Festival, Logos Theatre Company, Taproot Theatre Touring Company, and Driftwood Players.
