Freehold is offering a Solo Performance class with Marc Kenison this Spring!

SOLO PERFORMANCE with Marc Kenison
Apr 25 - June 13 // Wed 6:00 - 10:00pm

Marc Kenison danced professionally with The Jose Limon Dance Company and Tere O'Connor Dance. In 2004, he co-founded and co-directed Seattle's Washington Ensemble Theatre. Widely known as his performance personae Waxie Moon, the gender-blending “boylesque” sensation, he has performed at numerous venues worldwide including Key Arena, On The Boards, Seattle Rep, ACT, and The Triple Door. He is featured in the films Waxie Moon, A Wink and a Smile, and Waxie Moon in Fallen Jewel. In 2010, he was nominated for a Gregory Award (Excellence in Theatre, Washington State).  He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Cornish College for the Arts.  Recently, he received a commission from the Seattle Repertory Theatre and was featured on NPR.

Access your imagination, stories, secret talents and wildest visions to create a short solo performance. In a strong, trusting ensemble atmosphere, we will use writing exercises, improvisation, and a variety of performance techniques to create a draft and begin staging your show. This class is perfect for actors, artists and writers of all levels who have a story to tell, an idea to passionately explore, or a hunger for a new look at the creative process. We culminate in an invited performance of our works-in-progress, and you leave the class with a repeatable technique of how to conceive, develop and produce a solo performance.
