52 Pick Up

Produced by theater simple

Written by TJ Dawe and Rita Boze

Saturday September 5th @ 2pm

Sunday September 6th @6:15pm

some adult language/content; recommended for ages 18 and up

One woman + one man = a relationship. 52 scenes of that relationship. One deck of cards. (You do the math.) A combination of astutely scripted observations and improv, 52 PICK UP can swerve from belly-busting comedy to quiet heartbreak in the proverbial turn of a card, as the characters navigate their way through the events of their relationship. 52 "titles" about a relationship are written on an ordinary deck of playing cards. At the top of each show, the performers throw the cards in the air. and thrown in the air and performance then follows the order that they are randomly (honest!) picked up throughout the show. Touring internationally since 1991, theater simple produces innovative, entertaining and ambitious theatrical experiences. We do theater. Simple. PLAY WITH US.

Wild Rose

Created and Performed by Christina Sicoli

Sunday September 6th @4:45

Monday September 7th @ 2pm

contains adult content; recommended for ages 14 and up

A name no one cares to remember, a mannequin as a best friend, and a dream of fame. Wild Rose tells the story of Talula Rose, a naïve, 5'2" cosmetics counter employee who has 24 hours to be discovered as a world famous supermodel. Some people get into the industry to land the cover of US Weekly. Some people spend thousands of dollars on a pair of double D's to land a role on Battlestar Galactica. And some people write a one-woman fringe show because they don't fit the mold. Talula Rose is one of the thousands of hopeful actor/singer/models who suffer from "American Idol Syndrome"; she believes fame will come to her without talent or hard work. All she needs is for the right person to discover her. Christina Sicoli is a character driven comedienne who has a talent for physical comedy and has a "stage presence that is very reminiscent of Harpo Marx" (Andrew Clark, Toronto Star).

LEASE: Seattle's Own Opera

Wing-It Productions is proud to present Lease: Seattle's Own Rock Opera, a full length improvised rock opera in two acts. Lease will feature your favorite Seattle stereotypical characters as they go through their passive-aggressive lives, facing eviction from their apartment building and death by whatever affliction the audience chooses.

Radio8Ball

Created by Andras Jones

Monday September 7th @4:45pm

all ages

Have you been looking for answers in all the wrong places- the crystal ball, the palm reader, wikipedia? Well your search is over; listen to the Pop Oracle for your answers at Radio8Ball during this year's Bumbershoot. Radio8Ball is part rock n' roll, part game show, and of course part mystic mind-expansion! Participants ask their questions to the Pop Oracle on stage and spin a wheel of zodiac signs to determine which song the live performer will play. After the song is over, host Andras Jones, the performer, and the participant interpret the songs like musical tarot cards. The concept of synchronicity is in full force as Radio8Ball finds connections between seemingly unrelated events to reveal the bigger picture for the participant. It's like reading your horoscope, but way better! Bring your questions, philosophical theories, and gut feelings to Radio8Ball at Bumbershoot and you may have your solution at the end of this exciting live stage show.

Craft/Kraft/Craeft

Fuse Theatre Company

Written by Francesca Sanders

Saturday, September 5th @6:15pm

Sunday, September 6th @2pm

All ages.

Look up the word "craft" in the dictionary and three descriptions come spilling out: Skill in planning, making or executing; an occupation or trade requiring manual dexterity; and skill in deceiving to gain an end (for synonym, see art.). But this definition is only a partial description the contemporary craft movement. This site-specific, brand new work explores theatrically: what is art? what is theater? what is craft?

Improsia: life.. unknown..

Featuring Andrew McMasters, Joel Dale, Doug Willott, and Jana Healy

Saturday September 5th @ 5pm

Appropriate for ages 14 and up

WELCOME to the evolution of storytelling! Improsia is a three performer, long-form, improvised show in the style that is known as v3. v3 is recognized by the following qualities: the story revolves around a simple central idea, character or plotline; for the sake of storytelling, the actors can switch characters and locations whenever needed, meaning transitions between places and people in the story are seamless. Also, the characters are not tied to any one actor - they are tools to tell the story, and can be used by any performer at any time. The show itself consists of an introductory section of around twenty minutes, and the actual story which is about an hour. Started in 1998 by Joel Dale, the troupe has evolved and grown into what it is now - three professional, veteran improvisational performers, consistently creating new stories, and discovering what is real.
