We are holding an open general audition for our mainstage production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, by Oscar Wilde, Directed by Casey Stangl. Actors of all union statuses are welcome.

The dates for the production are:
First rehearsal: March 17, 2020
Opening: April 22, 2020
Closing: May 17, 2020

Please note: this is an initial audition with Rep Casting Director Kaytlin McIntyre. The director will not be present.

 

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Actors of all racial identities, abilities, body types, and genders are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to audition. All roles are currently open.

JACK "EARNEST" WORTHING: Late 20's-30’s. Male Identifying. Leads a double life.

ALGERNON MONCRIEFF: Late 20's-30’s. Male Identifying. Jack's city friend.

GWENDOLEN FAIRFAX: 20's-30's. Female Identifying. Algernon’s cosmopolitan cousin.

LADY BRACKNELL: 50's-60's. Female Identifying. Algernon's aristocratic aunt.

CECILY CARDEW: Early 20’s. Female Identifying. Jack's ward in the country.

REV. CHASUBLE: 50's-70's. Male identifying. The village vicar.

MISS PRISM: 50's-60's. Female identifying. Cecily’s buttoned-up governess.

MERRIMAN: 20's – 30’s. Male identifying. The butler at Jack’s country estate.

LANE: 40's – 60’s, Male Identifying. Algernon’s sardonic manservant.

Audition/Interview Dates:
9/11/19 (1:00-6:30)

Audition Requirements:
Please prepare one monologue in the style of Oscar Wilde, not to exceed 2 minutes. British dialects are strongly encouraged.
