"Nightingale" is the story of a woman who defied the status quo, caught the old guard in the act of being obsolete, spoke truth to power, and thereby changed the world. The musical depicts her struggles to free herself from the confines of Victorian society and lead nurses in the Crimean War.

Nightingale's work was key to establishing the nursing profession and she influenced other healthcare and civic issues worldwide. In celebration of Nightingale's 200th Birthday in 2020, HEARTS: Health & Arts is bringing this musical to nursing schools, conferences & organizations, and the general public.

8 Ensemble Singers - Each play multiple roles; various ages & character types.

The music asks for four treble clef voices and four bass clef voices. The history-based expectation of gender expression for these characters tends to split toward four female and four male actors, but actors of all gender identities will be fully considered, based on vocal range.
