Northwest Film Forum is seeking actors of color (Asian-American and African-American) for two lead roles, as well as actors of varying race and age, for a one-day narrative short film shoot.

---

LOGLINE: After an Asian-American actor auditions for an endless string of stereotypical roles, he searches for the best way to disrupt a racist system.

Auditions will be held at Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave.) on July 9th from 7:00pm to 8:45pm. Please send headshots, resume, and demo reel, if possible, to vivian@nwfilmforum.org to schedule a time and receive script sides for the roles of Tai and Greg.

NOTE: Lead actors must be available for REHEARSAL (Tuesday, July 23rd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm) and SHOOT DAY (Saturday, July 27 from 9:00pm to 2:00pm). All actors must be available on SHOOT DAY.

Script is co-written by students from Northwest Film Forum's Filmmaking Fundamentals: Narrative course -- https://nwfilmforum.org/education/workshops/filmmaking-fundamentals-narrative-july-2019/ -- along with Vivian Hua, a writer, director, and Executive Director of NWFF: https://vimeo.com/hellomynameisvee

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Tai (Lead): Male, Asian-American, 21-40. PAID.
A young-faced actor who has spent far too much of his acting career only pandering to sterotypical roles of Asian-Americans, Tai's frustrations leak out like a slow balloon until they finally explode in a very public way. "Street Hustler" wardrobe, open to your interpretation.

Greg (Lead): Male, African-American, 21-40. PAID.
A young-faced actor who has spent far too much of his acting career pandering to stereotypical roles of African-Americans, Greg recognizes the problems within the system but is unwilling to take the actions needed to break out of it, despite seeing more radical actions taken by his friend Asian-American friend, Tai. "Street Hustler" wardrobe, open to your interpretation. /// NOTE: Role was originally written for an African-American actor but we are opening the pool for additional multiracial or non-white talent to widen the potential pool of applicants, and will shift the script accordingly, as needed.
