This is a project to do play READINGS at 2 different senior centers. The first reading to be the EVENING of July 15 (7-8pm) at Hearthstone at Green Lake, the second to be on Thursday AFTERNOON July 18 (3-4pm) at Aljoya near North Gate Mall. Rehearsal on Saturday, July 13- 1-3:30 pm near Green Lake Library.

 

Other details:
The event will involve the readings of 2 different (10 minute) plays. Each actor selected will be cast with a role in both plays.

 

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Casting requirements for “Christmas in July”

1ST PLAY: “Dress Blues”
CHRISTOPHER: A gay, chic and charming owner of a high-end women’s designer clothing shop on Newbury Street in Boston. He is very polite but highly determined to make the sale to Mrs. Simmons. Any ethnicity.

NICHOLAS: CHRISTOPHER’S flamboyantly gay partner. He has a cutting wit and a sharp tongue which gets him into trouble. He also has a caring side which sometimes comes out.

MRS SIMMONS: A very rich and slightly overweight, high-society lady who spends much of her time and money trying to keep her husband from running off with some young intern. She is very much like a modern-day Margaret Dumont (who often played a wealthy society dowager in the Marx Brother’s movies.) Any ethnicity.

2ND PLAY: “Secret Santa”
BEN: Any ethnicity, in his 60’s. He may be the real Santa Claus!

RAYMOND: Any ethnicity, 60s-70+. He suffers from early dementia.

NAOMI: Any ethnicity, Around 50. She is RAYMOND’s daughter and caretaker.

DOREEN: Any ethnicity. Aged 30-40. A sales associate in Wal-Mart.
