First Rehearsal: 7/15/19
First Preview: 8/7/19
Opening: 8/10/19

SUMMARY:
The world is getting hotter, seas are rising, and one couple is thinking of having a baby. Lungs follows the lifespan of one couple’s conversation as they consider what it truly means to bring one more person into the world.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Seeking collaborative actors with a strong command of language (facility with language, strength of voice, specificity of action/intention) for the following roles:

[M]
25-35, male, any ethnicity or body type; “not getting any younger”; partner of [W]; musician, creative-type working in a record store; eventually joins corporate Seattle; internal processor; has difficulty letting others into his feelings; perceptive, caring for his partner; not a natural leader; compartmentalizes his emotions; easy-going; starts the conversation about having a baby; lives a somewhat unexamined life; loves his partner.

[W]
25-35, female, any ethnicity or body type; “not getting any younger”; partner of [M]; value-driven citizen of the world; PhD candidate; as intellectually sharp as she is deeply felt; possesses a dry but friendly sensibility; deeply caring; believes deeply in the act of questioning, thoroughly excavating any held beliefs, practices, or feelings; an out-loud, verbal processor; possesses a strong desire to make thoughtful, considered decisions; always imagined she would be a mother, but vaguely; loves her partner.

NOTE: We actively encourage actors from underrepresented and/or marginalized communities to audition; we believe inclusive, color-conscious casting is essential to the stories we tell.
