The Matchelorette will be a long-form improv show based on everyone’s favorite trashy TV reality show brought to life on stage. Big characters, melodrama, cocktail parties, heartbreak, and, of course, roses are all in store for those brave enough to look for love…. onstage. Love it or hate it, you can’t not watch.
The Matchelorette is directed by Michael Draper and Kayla Teel.
Rehearsals will be generally be 1-2 weekday evenings, and some weekend daytimes, January through mid-March.
Tech rehearsals are Saturday and Sunday March 9 & 10 (daytime), and Monday-Wednesday March 11-13 (evenings).
Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00, March 14-22 & April 4-19 (with no performances March 28 & 29). No Saturday performances.
Exact performance dates: March 14, 15, 21, 22; April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 2019.
Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Jet City Improv seeks improvisers and actors with improvisational experience. Performers should have 2 years of improvisational or theatrical experience.
Must be 18 or older to audition.
The show will alternate between a Matchelor and Matchelorette lead, and we aim to cast a diverse group to fill roles for both versions of the show. All cast members are expected to attend each performance night, and all genders are encouraged to apply.
Auditions will Sunday, Dec. 16, 2pm-5pm. Auditioners will be assigned a 20-minute small-group audition slot.
Callbacks or second audition/interview?
Callbacks will be Monday, Dec. 17, 7:30-9:30pm.
Auditions will consist of improvised scenes and handing out roses (provided). Applicants may be asked to do a celebrity impression of their choice at callbacks.
