This feature film is based on the award-winning short of the same name. It is being remastered to conform with distribution requirements.
La'Marr is going through a court trial for murder. Meanwhile, his trusted lawyer comes up with a plan to frame a young woman for his crime.
Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Brittney – Female / Open to all ethnicities (21 to 24 yrs old). Strong, dedicated, scrappy, emotional. Brittney suffers PTSD after witnessing the murder of her mother. Brittney’s main focus is making sure she gets justice for her mother at all costs.
Dre - Male / Open to all ethnicities (21 to 25 yrs old). Over-dramatic, blunt - he enjoys spending time with his loved ones. Dre tries to look at the realistic side of life. Dre is Brittney’s best-friend. His friendship with Brittney has been shaky due to the traumatic experiences Brittney has faced.
Kate – Female / Open to all ethnicities (45 to 55 yrs old). Hardworking, thoughtful, protective – Kate is Brittney’s Mom. She can be overprotective at times. She worked for La’Marr for many years until she left the organization.
Jordan – Male / Open to all ethnicities (23 to 28 yrs old). Reserved, angry – he’s had a rough upbringing. The only father figure he looked up too turned his back on him and he’s on the search for why that happened.
John – Male / Caucasian (21 to 25 yrs old). Optimistic, thoughtful, loyal - one of Brittney’s longtime friends and close friends with Dre and Alex. He looks for the positive in every situation. He often finds himself as the peacemaker.
Alex – Female / Open to all ethnicities (22 to 26 yrs old). Thoughtful, loving, she is Dre’s longtime girlfriend. She is close friends with Brittney and John. Alex is very outgoing.
Jennifer - Female / Open to all ethnicities (50 to 55 yrs old) Helpful, loving, she is Kim Warren’s best-friend and colleague. (Kim is the Mayor of Seattle). She’s the executive director for Mayor’s office. She dedicates her time to help Kim build a better community.
Tonya – Female / Open to all ethnicities (24 to 29 yrs old). Tonya is an energetic and hardworking news reporter. She works with the community and helps empower the people.
Reese - Male/Female / Open to all ethnicities (40 to 45 yrs old). Intelligent, charismatic, authoritative, Reese is La’Marr’s boss. An individual who is mainly concerned with gaining power and will kill anyone he/she sees as competition or who stands in the way.
Rob – Male / Open to all ethnicities (45 to 50 yrs old). - One of Reese’s men
Dom – Male / Open to all ethnicities (35 to 40 yrs old). - One of Reese’s men.
The following are roles that have already been cast but are provided for backstory and context:
Geno/Melissa- Is Brittney’s aunt and the younger sister/step-sister of Kate (Brittney’s mom). Geno is loyal, hard -working, dedicated, but at times naive. She and her sister Kate joined up with La’Marr’s organized gang. Geno quickly rose up to second in command.
La’Marr - A ruthless, vengeful gangster who has no empathy towards humanity. He is also known as Mr. Big.
Jamal Harold - Cocky, extremely smart, hardworking, well rounded cop. He takes his job too seriously at times.
Andrew Kolburn - Smart, hardworking, but sneaky. Kolburn always wanted to make a difference in the community, but after his wife divorced him, he started struggling financially and he had to find other ways of making a living. He joined La’Marr/Mr.Big’s organization to make ends meet.
Kim Warren - Sweet, caring - Kim is the Mayor of Seattle. She works hard to eliminate crime around the city. Her motives are to create a better future for the younger generation.
Jamie Watson – Jamie is the local county’s judge. She is also close friends with the Mayor.
January 12 and13, 2019 - by invitation and by appointment. Invitations will be sent out early January 2019.
