An educational theatre project about the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans including a play, with two follow-up workshops (for middle/high school students - Jan-Feb 2019), a reading (Nov 2018), teacher workshop (Jan 2019) and videotaping (Feb 2019)

 

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Hisashi - "H" 17 yrs old, Asian American, athletic build, needs to play harmonica

Rose - 15 yrs old, petite, must be able to pass as caucasian but also believable that she's part Japanese American

Both actors will also facilitate drama-in-education workshops with students, addressing issues of identity, civil liberties and connecting with current social justice issues.

Audition Requirements:
dramatic monologue, reading sides, lead a short activity appropriate for high school students

Monetary compensation:
$4,000 + $250 travel stipend MUST have access to a car to get to schools
