NIGHT PARADE is an original play written by Kendall Uyeji and Tom Dang. The title derives from the Japanese term "Hyakki Yakō, (百鬼夜行, "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons)". This show is set to be produced in Fall 2018 and is a co-production between REBATEnsemble and Pork Filled Productions with sponsorship by Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Below is a short description:
"Brilliant, innovative and deeply troubled. In life, Shunkuno Arashi was a pioneer of Japanese art who was unknown to the world until the last decade. Her legacy spans one hundred pieces; all attributed to the theme of demons. When an art show featuring her work arrives in town, mysterious happenings take place. The walls begin to move and shadows take form. Be warned: nothing is as it seems."
NIGHT PARADE will play in Gilbert and Sullivan's warehouse studio in Greenwood and will take the form of an immersive theatre experience. Audiences will enter an art gallery and be led around the room as walls move to create new spaces and reveal new scenes. The play will run around one hour and actors will perform the show multiple times a night (between two and three on a given night). There will be a stipend for all performers.
Please come prepared for a half hour of movement work. Wear comfortable clothes and bring water.
