PARLEY is casting the world premiere workshop of LITTLE BROTHER'S BODY, a new play by associate playwright Drew David Combs and directed by Rebecca Tourino Collinsworth.

About the play:
After a fatal car accident takes both their children, two parents are desperate to reconstruct their family. But what are the consequences when Dr. Callaghan's experimental procedure actually works? Who really owns the body, and what does it mean to have control? Little Brother is forced to navigate a minefield of gender, sex, power, and privilege when he finds himself in a situation––and a body––he's never experienced.

Other details:
ABOUT THE PROCESS: Our process is unconventional; itis designed with the needs of new work in mind. We rehearse our plays twice a week for four consecutive weeks in order to allow the playwright ample time to observe the process, absorb the actors' discoveries and challenges, and use that information to inform and inspire a revision process. In the final week, we perform and celebrate. MISSION: Parley is a weekly playwrights' group as well as a producing entity. The term "parley" derives from the French verb "parler": to speak. Historically, a parley was a meeting between adversaries in order to negotiate an end to battle. To signal a willingness to talk peaceably, armies would run up a white flag. Writing is a solitary act. It's easy for playwrights who feel isolated to become defensive. Our group seeks to cure that condition. By committing to a process of reading, discussing, and producing one another's work, we surrender the lone struggle and move creatively forward together. Make plays, not war.
