Character Breakdown / Project Needs
SPIRIT - (female-identifying) Stopped roving a while back, but has built Camp Dusty Tread from scratch. Earnest, energetic, and enthusiastic. The kind of happy camper that would take joy in spreadsheets and friendship bracelets.

OPPORTUNITY - (female-identifying) Twin sister to Spirit. Still out on her mission and roving the planet by day. Adventure, freedom, and casual existentialism. The kind of babe that who would do roller derby and wipe the floor with you at karaoke.

CURIOSITY - (nonbinary or genderqueer) Earth’s favorite rover. Friendly and possibly overwhelming, but entertaining. The kind of memelord that would find it amusing to unironically deadpan phrases like “TBH”, “baller”, and “Hokay so here’s the mars,” even when nobody else does.

ALISCE - (nonbinary, genderqueer, or female-identifying) The newest, state-of-the-art arrival to the red planet. Nerdy, nervous, and star-struck. The kind of new kid that has done all of the reading and none of the labs, but worries about making friends and missing home.

MaPLe - (nonbinary, genderqueer, or female-identifying) In another life, the Mars Polar Lander. Roguish, determined, and a bit terrifying. The kind of stunning goth that might have engineered their own tattoo gun, but also might be a cannibal. Double-cast with Sojourner.

SOJOURNER - (nonbinary, genderqueer, or female-identifying) The first rover ever on Mars. Spends retirement with lander partner Pathfinder. Poetic and revered by other rovers, but anti-social. The kind of novelist that would travel the country in a bus.

VIKING 1 and VIKING 2 - (any gender) The first landers that have been hanging out on Mars since the 1970s. Actual hippies, total Dead-heads, and friends of Carl Sagan. Content with senility, these two have dedicated their retirement to stargazing, philosophizing, and starting their band. The Vikings are onstage the whole show and have occasional lines, but are primarily the pit musicians.
