Having recently relocated to Seattle from Austin, TX, Vertical Arts is a new performance collective established with the intention of producing original work that reexamines timeless stories using a wide range of storytelling techniques, overlapping forms of media, and inventive staging practices. The first project being tackled is an (extremely loose) adaptation of the Persephone myth titled Stolen Away. Through a series of documentary clips, footage of forced diary readings, scenes of a pseudo-funeral, and memories of a complicated relationship, these characters deal with the themes of love, loss, and reality. Combining Greek mythology and Walt Whitman poetry with the Jonbenet Ramsey case and the woes of millenial dating, this piece has something to offer theatregoers and non-theatregoers alike.

PLEASE NOTE: This production will be stripped down and somewhat experimental. In addition to straight scenes, there will be poetry readings, voice-over work, and projections/film used throughout.

Other details:
First table reading will be March 3rd. Performances will run May 4, 5, 11, & 12. Rehearsals and performances will take place either in the Seattle Center or a nearby location (TBD). Dates and times of rehearsals will be mostly flexible, to be agreed upon by the cast, but will average once or twice a week during March and April.
