SecondStory Repertory is holding auditions for our March 2018 production of Bye Bye Birdie. Directed by Isaiah Crowson with Music Direction by John Allman and Choreography by Matthew Lawrence and Rena Bailey-Barrett.

In this Tony-Award-winning favorite, superstar Conrad Birdie arrives in Sweet Apple, Ohio to give a lucky girl "one last kiss" before his induction into the Army. Set in a bygone world of soda fountains, screaming fans and Ed Sullivan, the nostalgic Bye Bye Birdie overflows with comedy, romance, and songs like "Put on a Happy Face," "A Lot of Livin' To Do" and "The Telephone Hour."

The show runs March 2-25, 2018. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sunday March 25, 2018 at 2pm. Rehearsals begin January 21, 2018.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
*Roles listed are representative. Exact casting will be determined at callbacks. Roles are open for all ages. All ethnicities are encouraged to auditions. PLEASE NOTE: The role of Rose Alvarez has been precast.

ALBERT PETERSON: Conrad Birdie's manager, who formerly aspired to be an English teacher
KIM MACAFEE: A teenage girl from Sweet Apple, who is chosen to receive the "one last kiss" from Conrad Birdie
CONRAD BIRDIE: A 1950s rock and roll star inspired by Elvis Presley
RANDOLPH MACAFEE: Kim's well-behaved younger brother
MR. MACAFEE: Kim and Randolph's befuddled and bad-tempered father
MRS.MACAFEE: Kim and Randolph's mother
MAE PETERSON: Albert's overbearing, prejudiced mother
HUGO PEABODY: Kim's boyfriend or "steady", who is jealous of Conrad
ROSE ALVAREZ: role has been precast

Audition/Interview Dates:
Sunday December 10, 2017 7pm-10pm

Callbacks or second audition/interview?
Callbacks: Sunday December 17, 2017 7pm-11pm

Audition Requirements:
Please come with headshot, resume, 16-32 bars of an upbeat song and a comedic monologue not to exceed one minute. An accompanist will be provided. Please provide sheet music in the correct key. Singing acapella or with a CD is unacceptable for this audition.

Monetary compensation:
SecondStory Repertory pays a stipend to adult actors to defray the cost of participation in the production.
