"The Rabbit Thief" follows Apple, a lonely 14 year-old girl whose mother is a high-ranking military official. Due to her busy schedule, Apple's mother has not been a prominent figure in her life and Apple is forced to grow up far too soon while still trying to navigate through her adolescence. One day she meets Paige, a woman whom she instantly connects with, and the two form an unlikely friendship. Paige provides for Apple emotionally in a way her mother never has. But not all that glitters is gold, and Apple finds herself pulled into a dark underworld from which she may never escape.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Available Roles:
THOSE OF ALL ETHNICITIES ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION FOR ANY ROLE.

APPLE: To appear between the ages of 14-16, any ethnicity. Apple is in desperate need of love and attention and pursues these things in all the wrong ways. She has a rebellious side but at the core, is vulnerable and sweet. She’s been forced to grow up too soon and as a result, acts very much like both an adult and a child at the same time. ***IMPORTANT**** This role will require the actress who is cast to smoke (herbal cigarettes – 1 scene only), simulate drinking alcohol, use profanity and be shown in a bra. The film contains sexual content (though there are no sex scenes shown or simulated). For these reasons, NO ACTRESS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS PART. Our crew consists of almost entirely women and the utmost respect and safety will be given to our actress during these scenes.

PAIGE: To appear between the ages of 35-45, any ethnicity, slender. As a teen, Paige made a decision that has dictated and destroyed her life ever since. She is an alcoholic and feels that the only thing she has control of in her life is her physical appearance, which she is meticulous about. Paige is not a good person, but she is also not a villain.

NICK: To appear between the ages of 13-16, any ethnicity. Nick is an awkward but cute boy that goes to school with Apple and has a crush on her.

JIM: To appear between the ages of 24-30, any ethnicity. Jim is a good-looking, older friend of Apple’s. He doesn’t know Apple very well and is under the impression that she is much older than she is. ***The actor cast in this role will be required to smoke (herbal cigarettes), use profanity and appear on screen with his shirt off.

CARRIE: To appear any age over 18, any ethnicity. Carrie is an employee at the pet store Apple frequents. The actress cast for this role must not be allergic to animals, particularly rabbits.

GROCERY STORE EMPLOYEE: Any gender, any age over 18, any ethnicity.
