Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's genre-defying play is set on a cotton and sugar plantation in 1859, and explores the light side and the dark side of race in America with brilliant humor, subversive wit and breathtaking spectacle.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Zoe: the Octoroon (a person who is 1/8 black). Zoe is played by an actress who is 1/8 black, or a white actress who can pass for an octoroon, or a mixed-race actress. (Age 20-35) *Ability to sing in a classically trained style is required*

Playwright: played by a white actor or an actor who can pass for white. (Age 30-60) *Ability to move and carry a tune is a plus*

Audition/Interview Dates:
Monday 10/16 from 1:00pm -- 8:00pm

Audition Requirements:
Sides will be provided upon confirmation of appointment.

Monetary compensation:
minimum wage
