Keith Dahlgren (JCI) directs this hilarious farcical 1940s radio play based on the classic O'Henry tale "Gift of the Magi."

 

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Della/Lauren - female 20-30s, young, lovely and innocent ingenue (or not)

Mrs. Marcetti/Madame Sofronie- female 40+, (boisterous Italian hairdresser and flirt. Italian accent helpful)

Denise/Mrs. Mandelbread - female 40+ (Della’s trusted Yiddish confidante)

Stage manager - frantic, jaded and constantly overwhelmed (any age, gender, ethnicity)

Freddy/Jim - Male 20-30s, Hard working, honest, love interest of Della

Mr. Marcetti/Mr. Mandelbread - male 40+ (quite a character. He’s a mix of old world Italy and Catskills)

Rex/Announcer - Male (40+) professional broadcaster with a heap of charm, polish and suavity. (As long as he’s on-air and not actually trying to relate to other people).

Most actors will play additional small roles. This is a real ensemble show.
