We are looking for actors to help us create "Something Incredible" - a short devised show for RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WING at Annex!

What it is: Research and Development Wing is the off-night Spring production to partner with Annex's ACME. Catherine Blake Smith and James Weidman have curated 4 different shows that will each perform two or three times. There is $50 stipend for all artists. Our show - "Something Incredible" will be devised by the people we cast - though no devising experience is necessary!

Creative team:
Natalie Copeland (Playwrite) - With 4 years of devising and group-writing experience with groups such as The Libertinis, Dangerswitch, Rocket Theatre Lab, I'm excited to lead the writing on an Annex project that revolves around my chief inspirations: science, magic, and wonder!
Emily Harvey (Director) - I've been devising for over 10 years. I was co-artistic director of Blood Ensemble and has trained by the Tectonic Theater Project. My last few projects: Macbett, As You Like It (ghost light), Love and Poetry (Pocket), NDGM, Barn Show, Nevermore (Blood Ensemble). More info at emilymarieharvey.com

What the show is about: We will be writing and devising around the hunch that the histories of science and spirituality/religion are intricately linked, and will be examining the influences of curiosity, wonder, and magic on the discoveries of great scientists and thinkers.
For example, we may explore the Chinese discovery of gunpowder while looking for the elixir of life, Islamic poetry and mathematics, medicinal magic, origins of astronomy around the world, or the bizarre rocket science of Thelemite Occultist Jack Parsons. Who knows!
