Actors needed for a staged reading of BALLOONS, a comedy in two acts

The predictable and punchline-driven routine of six friends and lovers in present-day Hollywood encounters a tipping point.

This reading is presented as part of Driftwood Players' "First Draft" reading series, 7pm March 26 in the Wade James Theater in Edmonds.

 

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Cast (3 women, 3 men):

LIZ, aspiring actress, balloon shop manager, and modern-day Mrs. Malaprop; on her 6th callback for the main role on a new TV pilot (age: mid 20s to early 30s)

JEREMY, Liz's husband of two years; has a BA in overinflated ego and theatre direction (age: 30s)

RILEY, a once-successful scriptwriter who now takes refuge in alcohol and bad jokes; brash, big-mouthed, sentimental (age: 50s)

CARRIE, owner of the balloon shop and stereotypical sex-mad divorcee; also Liz's closest friend (age: 30s)

PETER, Carrie's surfer boy-toy; low IQ, high-maintenance (age: mid-to-late 20s)

REBECCA, roller-skating, Barbie-bodied gold digger with a heart of gold (age: early 20s)
