Producers of 1-Off Production are following up their bilingual production of Blood Wedding from Summer 2016 with a new bilingual adaptation of Proof by David Auburn, directed by Arlene Martínez-Vázquez. Rehearsals begin May 8th approximately twice a week, with potential accommodation around reasonable summer conflicts. Public performances to be located through Seattle on the porches of private residences in August, along with a weekend tour to Port Townsend mid-September.
Character Breakdown / Project Needs
CLAIRE: 30s, Latinx, female
Strong, loving, caring, smart, and practical.
Supports and loves her family from afar.
Strong need to control her environment.
Complex relationship with family, culture, and Spanish.
Must be comfortable speaking Spanish.
HAL: 30s, male. All ethnicities are encouraged to submit,.
Both passionate and shy.
PhD in Mathematics with a deep passion for the subject while recognizing he's not a genius.
Awkward in his pursuit of Catherine and even more awkward in his worship of Robert.
Does not need to speak Spanish.
