A Tribe Called Yes is an improvised play that will be the underdog story of a hip-hop group’s rise and fall from mediocrity where the audience decides what songs will be performed and what path their career will take. The show will seek to provide as authentic a hip-hop experience as possible within an improvised setting by featuring a variety of voices and musical elements.
Rehearsals be 1-2 days per week in January and February (Tues or Wed evenings, Sat or Sun morn/afternoon).
Tech week is March 4-8. (Daytimes Saturday and Sunday; evenings Mon-Wed.)
Performances are on Thursdays and Fridays (no Saturday performances) at 8:00pm, March 9-24, 2017.
Exact performance dates:
March 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 & 24.
Performances (and many rehearsals) take place at Jet City Improv: 5510 University Way NE, Seattle.
A Tribe Called Yes is created and directed by JCI ensemble member Steve Lange.
Character Breakdown / Project Needs
Jet City Improv seeks improvisers and actors with improvisational experience. All genders and ethnicities encouraged to audition, we are strongly seeking as diverse a cast as possible. Improv and/or hip-hop experience preferred, but not required (some roles will not require musical performance). Musical ability of any nature is also a plus.
Must be 18 or older to audition.

Callbacks or second audition/interview?
Auditions are Monday, December 12, 7:00pm-10:00pm. Please plan on staying up to the whole 3 hours. Some individuals may be let go early.
Auditions will consist of improv exercises and scenes. While some roles in the show will not require freestyle rapping, there will be an exercise requiring it for the audition.
