Project Description:
Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge will hold auditions for the Lerner & Loewe classic musical My Fair Lady on Sunday, September 16th, from 10am-3pm. Auditions are at Ovation!'s studio at 600 Ericksen on Bainbridge Island. All parts are open. For the audition, prepare a song from musical theatre and bring piano music in your key for the accompanist. Please no pop, rock, folk or karaoke. Parts for singers, dancers and actors - all ages (8 minimum - there will be some children's parts in chorus) and experience levels.

Audition Information

Audition/Interview Dates:
September 16th, 2012 - 10am-3pm

Callbacks or second audition/interview?
September 18th, 2012 - 6pm

Audition Requirements:
Prepare a song from musical theatre and bring piano music in your key for accompanist. No pop, rock, folk or karaoke. If you wish to use an opera aria that's ok but it must be in English. If interested in non-singing part you will be asked to cold-read from the script - monologue optional.

Describe any monetary compensation:
We are a volunteer organization. We do provide partial walk-on ferry reimbursement for principal roles.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
The My Fair Lady cast is large and includes many opportunities for actors, dancers and singers.

My Fair Lady character descriptions and vocal ranges:

Eliza Doolittle - A cockney flower girl working outside Covent Garden. Her potential to become “a lady” becomes the object of a bet between Higgins and Pickering. Soprano. (middle C to high G)

Colonel Pickering - Retired British officer and the author of “Spoken Sanskrit.” Baritone

Henry Higgins - British, upper class professional bachelor, world famous phonetics expert, teacher and author of “Higgins’ Universal Alphabet.” Baritone

Freddy Eynsford-Hill - Upper class young man who becomes smitten with Eliza. Tenor/Baritone

Alfred P. Doolittle - Eliza’s father; a vigorous dustman. Baritone.

Harry - Drinking companion of Alfred Doolittle. Bass/Baritone

Jamie - Drinking companion of Alfred Doolittle. Tenor

Mrs. Pearce - Henry Higgins’ housekeeper. Alto/Mezzo

Mrs. Higgins - Henry’s long-suffering mother

This production features many ensemble and/or dancing roles – many are named and have solo lines and/or speaking lines as well as ensemble music:

Singing and Dancing Ensembles – Cockney Quarter (T/T/Br/Bs), Servants, flower girls, bar patrons, buskers, market vendors and patrons, bystanders, Lord Boxington (race patron), Mrs. Hopkins (cockney), Mrs. Eynsford-Hill (Freddy’s mother), Ascot Race patrons and employees, Embassy Ball guests including the Queen of Transylvania and her escort, Professor Zoltan Karpathy (Hungarian), the Ambassador and his wife, Dr.Themistocles Stephanos, Covent Garden scene crowd, Tottenham Court crowd, etc.

Youth Performers: There will be parts for children (8-12 years) in the production who will participate as singers, dancers and/or actors in chorus numbers, crowd scenes, etc.
