Project Description:
Pacific Play Company will be holding auditions for our upcoming production of “Maidrid's Bow, An Amazon Tale” by Morgan Ludlow running at the beautiful Ethnic Cultural Center in Seattle April 11-27 with rehearsals starting in late February.

Maidrid's Bow had a successful 6 week sold-out run in San Francisco and will receive its regional premiere with PPC this spring!

Fresh from the marriage equality controversy comes this whimsical and exuberant amazon adventure story! When Maidrid befriends a young man from across the river she commits the ultimate sin. She must choose between her ambition and what her heart demands. Can young love survive the fury of the Goddess?

Audition/Interview Dates:
Auditions will be Saturday, August 18th in Studio E (at TPS)

Callbacks or second audition/interview?
Callbacks Saturday, August 25th in Studio I (at TPS)

Audition Requirements:
Actors auditioning will be asked to perform a 1-2 comic monologue and read from sides of the script with other actors.

Describe any monetary compensation:
All actors will be paid a stipend. Actors will also be able to make additional money through our innovative ticketing opportunity.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
ROLES:
This is an ensemble show. Several actors will have the opportunity to play more than one character and more than one gender.

Actor One (a woman 20's) plays:
MAIDRID, a young Amazon warrior. Headstrong and passionate.

Actor Two (a man 20's) plays:
FARS, son of Tursus, Chief of the Smelters (the Smelters are the male society on Salesbos Island) adventurous and fiery.

Actor Three (a woman 20's) plays:
VORA, Maidrid's sister and daughter of General Lukora.
BELTANE AMAZON WOMAN, a woman who is going through the fertility rites of Beltane.

Actor Four (a man 30-40's) plays:
THE MAGORA, the High Priestess of the Goddess Olyra. The Magora is the one adult on Salesbos who visits both the world of men and women.
NELLIUS, Fars' diminutive father and consort to Tursus. Nellius has ribbons in his beard.

Actor Five (a woman 30-40's) plays:
GENEREAL LUKORA, the High General of the Amazon warriors and Maidrid's dominant mother.
BELTANE SMELTER II, a man who is going through the fertility rites of Beltane.
TRESTE, an old man and the great bow-maker of Salesbos. Treste is a suitor to Fars.

Actor Six (a woman 30-40's) plays:
PHILANDRIA, a passionate mouse. An animal advisor to Maidrid.
ATTENDANTS, an Amazon warrior who attends General Lukora and Arras the dark knight.
QUEEN JOKONDA, the warrior Queen of the Amazons. She kicked Hippolyta's ass several years ago.

Actor Seven (a woman 30-40's) plays:
ANTIOS, Maidrid's simbiant mother and consort to General Lukora.
DRUNA, a very sly fox. Druna is Vora's animal advisor.
BELTANE SMELTER I, a man who is going through the fertility rites of Beltane. He has a slight lisp.

Actor Eight (a man late 20-30's) plays:
AVAR, Fars' best friend. Avar is a very flamboyant Smelter and a playboy.
ARRAS, an Amazon warrior known as "the Dark Knight." Arras is tough as nails, excellent at swordplay and her cruelty knows no bounds.
BELTANE AMAZON WOMAN II, a woman who is going through the fertility rites of Beltane.

Actor Nine (a man late 30-50's) plays:
PRAXIS, a wise and grouchy owl. Animal advisor to Maidrid.
TURSUS, Chief of the Smelters and the dominate father of Fars.
MELDA, the old Amazon medicine woman.

Actor Ten (a boy or girl 7-9) plays:
SILIAS, son of Antios...her last child.
**This role will be auditioned separately from the adult roles.
